Meditate: How To Walk On Water.

Dear All,

Two things are doing well at the moment: the Walt Disney - Pixar animated movie, The Incredibles 2, which raked in $180 million at the US box-office this weekend, making it the biggest launch since 'Finding Dory'. And Author and Historian, Yuval Noah Harari's books on the New York Times best-seller list.

Both touch on the potential for human beings to be more than we are at the moment(see Harari quote at bottom) and, if you're practicising sahaja yoga meditation daily, here's why this may be of passing interest to you.

When you meditate daily and begin to notice the gradual positive effect on you  - how the stress goes away and you get your inner peace - this is only due to a wee bit of the kundalini's potential.

Everytime you touch the state of thoughtless awareness in your meditation then a few extra strands of this massive bundle of energy which is your kundalini rise up. The effect of this is that over time it becomes easier and easier to enter the state of mental silence. You also feel the vibes better and may start noticing how any issues you have start solving themselves automatically.

But this is still a tiny fraction of the potential effects of your kundalini's action. In the ancient literature about the kundalini, it is written that it gives you the 'ashta siddhis' or 8 supernormal abilities including Laghima : the ability to make your body almost weightless which implies the ability to walk on water or fly.

So far I haven't seen any sahaja yogi doing this :o) . Presumably, if this is an evolutionary progression, then Mother Nature doesn't want to freak us out with some weird abilities before we can handle it and everybody has got to the same stage.

Instead there are some gentler powers within the bounds of credibility and acceptance which you can start using straightaway - see below. If you needed any additional motivation to meditate - you too can become an Incredible - then this may be it.

See you at group meditation tomorrow.

Regards

Peter
"Biological engineering starts with the insight that we are far from realising the full potential of organic bodies. For 4 billion years natural selection has been tweaking and tickering with these bodies, so that we have gone from amoeba to reptiles to mammals to Sapiens. Yet there is no reason to think that Sapiens is the last station. Relatively small changes in genes, hormones and neurons were enough to transform Homo erectus - who could nothing more impressive than flint knives - into Homo sapiens, who produces spaceships and computers. Who knows what may be the outcome of a few more changes to our DNA." - Homo Deus, Yuval Noah Harari

Fwd: HighlHighly effective meditation techniques for spring and summer

Share

Forward

You might wonder how meditation techniques can change with the weather. Well, Sahaja meditation provides a broad range of techniques and there are some of them that lend themselves very well to the use of nature's conditions in spring and summer.

These are to do with the use of the natural elements because it's easier and fun to be outdoors during these times of the year. But while you're enjoying being outdoors, you can combine fun with some great meditation techniques that give huge benefits.

Meditating on your lawn or at your neighborhood park

When you sit for meditation on green lawns, you're directly in contact with the earth. Our body and not surprisingly, the chakras are made of the earth's five natural elements - earth, air, water, fire, and ether. Using those elements to clear ourselves and in natural settings gives some great advantages. When meditating when in direct contact with the ground, the earth absorbs negativities in our chakras a lot easier than when you're sitting on a chair and inside your meditation room at home.

Try this technique -

  1. Practice the regular Sahaja meditation technique of raising your inner energy, meditating for as long as you feel like sitting on the ground.
  2. Try some balancing and clearing techniques
  3. Try taking a nap lying down after your meditation, but under the shade of a tree.

You'll be amazed at how much powerful this technique and experience is compared to the meditation indoors.

Foot soaking in the ocean

By itself, the foot soaking technique is a very powerful cleansing and clearing technique. Every Sahaja practitioner who has been doing it for years will vouch for its effectiveness. But an ocean water foot soak is like being in heaven while you soak your feet. So try the same foot soaking technique standing as you face the ocean, raise your energy (when no one's around you) and stand in meditation for as long as you like. The bout of clearing and feeling the silence within is tremendous, and so much more powerful than your foot soak indoors.

Clearing your attention using the sky and natural settings

When meditating outdoors, you can also open your eyes for some time and look at the expansive sky or landscape far in the distance while still remaining in the state of thoughtless awareness. This can greatly help clear your Agnya chakra and your attention.

So if you have been problems with your attention and unable to feel thoughtless awareness, use this technique as often as you need to see an improvement.

Taking a nature walk barefooted

If you see greenery and long stretches of grass, it's a great idea to take long walks barefooted. Our chakras are also on our feet and a lot of clearing can happen when our feet are in contact with the earth.

Too much of our lives is dominated by being indoors and seeking comfort in artificial creations - watching TV, doing work on our computers or socializing indoors. So much so, that we've almost lost touch with nature compared to our ancestors.

Spring and Summer provide a great opportunity to not just reconnect with nature but combine some highly effective meditation techniques to get the dual benefits of fun and a deep meditative experience.

Preserving your meditative state all day long

Share

Forward

You've just finished a wonderfully peaceful meditation, opened your eyes and suddenly think, what about the rest of my day? I've got another 12 hours of relentless bombardment by modern life and how do I take some of this feeling with me? This is a question that all of us who meditate and live in the hustle and bustle of modern life often ask ourselves and find ourselves without a ready solution.

The answer lies in the use of our attention, or our awareness itself. When we practice Sahaja meditation our attention is drawn within ourselves and becomes very focused and concentrated upon our inner energy as we establish the state of thoughtless awareness. As we begin to engage in our normal active day, through the medium of our eyes we very rapidly look at a myriad of things that attract and scatter our attention and then generate random thoughts about everything we are seeing.

This fracturing of our attention is a symptom of how we use our awareness and has the unfortunate byproduct of endless and unnecessary thought and wasted energy. The tendency to absorb unwanted negative energy is also an unintended side effect of this behavior. If we are able to keep our attention within and upon our inner energy despite being engaged in activity, this process can be circumvented and we can remain more self-contained and less reactive to the world around us.

It all starts with our eyes and how we use them. Ideally we would keep our gaze steady and in front of us, without swiveling the head from side to side and trying to take in every person, retail outlet, or sign competing for our attention. If we then place our attention on our inner energy, preferably at the top of the head at the crown of the subtle system while engaging in other activity, we can discover a new level of clarity and focus in whatever we choose to undertake. An added benefit is that when we attempt to return to a state of meditation later on, there is less to undo to get there.

Of course, this takes a bit of practice and remembering to actually attempt it, but if you do I am sure that you will see results and gradually experience a settling of the attention that is quite refreshing. The more we are able to reside in this more attentive state the easier our daily journey through life will become.

To deep meditation all day long,
David Dunphy
Sahaja instructor
